MNHS Pilot CI Team represents NegOr to the Regional Roll-Out of Basic CI Program
Mabinay National High School is chosen by the Division of Negros Oriental to be a pilot school for the Continuous Improvement (CI) Program of DepEd and the school team represented the division to the Regional Roll-Out and Capability Building of Pilot CI Teams of Schools Divisions on CI Program on September 11-13, 2014 at DepEd Ecotech Center, Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City. This training aimed at producing capacitated and well-equipped CI Teams that will help find solutions to school problems and at the end improve the educational system of the country.
MNHS Pilot CI Team members include Mrs. Lucrecia C. Nicolas (School Principal) and four teachers namely, Mrs. Juliet C. Aviles, Mrs. Evely Cacaldo-Amante, Ms. Emy E. Tingson, and Mr. Edwin B. Jalisan, with Education Program Supervisor Mrs. Rachel B. Picardal as the team supervising head.
There were 19 participating divisions for this region 7 training including Negros Oriental, with 5 or 6 members per team representing each division. These are the Divisions of Bais City, Bayawan City, Bogo City, Bohol Province, Carcar City, Cebu City, Cebu Province, Danao City, Dumaguete City, Guihulngan City, Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Naga City, Siquijor, Tagbilaran City, Talisay City, Tanjay City and Toledo City.
The regional CI Training Team and facilitators are as follows: Dr. Emiliano B. Elnar Jr (HRDD Chief, DepEd Region VII); Dr. Leah B. Apao (HRDD EPS, DepEd region VII); Mr. Desiderio V. Deligero (OIC Chief, School Governance and Operations Division);Mrs. Rosa Cabotaje (QAD Member, DepEd Region VII); Dr. Wilfreda D. Bongalos (SDS, Bohol Division); Mr. Jupiter Maboloc (CI Focal Person, Bohol Division); Mr. Cerlito Romero (CI Process Owner, Lila NHS); Mrs. Lucita C. This CI Program is a project funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade through the Philippines Australian Human Resource and Organizational Development Facility (PAHRODF). This program is aligned to the principle of Total Quality Management (TQM) – which signifies that a comprehensive and fundamental rule or belief for leading and operating an organization, aimed at continually improving performance over the long term by focusing on customers while addressing the needs of all stakeholders.
The CI Program was launched on July 2013 to 34 models schools all over the country, in 5 regions and in 9 divisions, which looked into the different problems in schools like high rate of absences, malnutrition, and problem in teaching strategies in the different subject areas. CI expands to all regions with centers of excellence established.
By continuously improving the way teachers deliver learner-centered education we are helping our students achieve their ambitions and aspirations step by step.

Mabinay holds triple celebration in June 12
The Municipality of Mabinay held the three important celebrations or activities in June 12, 2014 at the Municipal covered court - The 116th Independence Day celebration, the launching of the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children (MCPC), and the World-wide celebration of the World Day against Child Labor. These three are interrelated with each other.
The observance of our country’s freedom day is held in the morning right after the kick-off parade. The celebration is geared with the theme “Kalayaan: Bunga ng Kagitingan, Kadakilaan at Karangalan. Mrs. Ieny Anfone Socorro, MCS Principal II, is the guest speaker who challenge everyone to give out ourselves freely, be contented of what we have and have a collective “malasakit” for others. Socorro further encouraged everyone to give our children enough honor and good future.
The launching of the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children (MCPC) was also done on the same day and was spearheaded by the Hon. Mayor Ernie “Jango” Uy. The MCPC, as an important body of this municipality, is in the position to uphold that advocacy to protect and defend the freedom, right and welfare of every child of this municipality. There’s a Child and Welfare Code and DILG Memorandum Circulars mandating the creation of the councils for the protection of children at all levels of the LGU and providing guidelines on how to establish and strengthen them – all these are geared towards protecting that same right to freedom of every child.

June 12 is also the World Day Against Child Labor – a fete set by the International Labor Organization in 2002 whose objective is to race the awareness of the people on the subject Child Labor. Bro. Celestino “Intoy” R. Rosete Jr., Prov’l Engagement Officer of World Vision ABK 3 LEAP, gave his valuable insights on how to take care of children. Rosete further said that freedom is never given; it is rather acknowledged, respected, and protected. We are all free to move to safeguard freedom of our fellowmen, especially the freedom of every child.
Three Prov’l board members joined the Mabinayanons in the 3 above-mentioned activities. They were Hon. Erwin Macias, Hon. Melimore Saycon and Hon. Mariant Escano Villegas.

Mabinay District 1 launches SIIP
Jimenez, Aguilar grace the occasion Mabinay District 1, headed by District Supervisor Dr. Marilou N.Lobos, launched the Schools Innovation and Improvement Program (SIIP) on June 10, 2014 at the Mabinay Convention Hall, Mabinay Terminal Complex. Negros Oriental Schools Division Superintendent, Salustiano T. Jimenez and Assistant Division Superintendent Dexter Aguilar were present to accept the SIIP documents. The program was participated by the different Barangay Officials, Elementary and High School head teachers, student/ pupil government council, district supervisors, PTA officials, and some government employees. Mabinay Municipal Mayor Ernie T. Uy and SB Chairman on Education Hon. Jed Bryce T. Sinda were at the program to give their inspirational messages. Susana Z. Canaveral, Principal I of Mabinay SPED Center, gave the State of the School Address. The Priority Improvement Areas and their corresponding programs and projects such as Leadership and Governance, Curriculum and Instruction, Performance and Results Accountability, and Resource Management were presented by some head teachers and principals. The presentation of the SIIP documents by school was done by the school heads, and SGC and SPT Chairpersons. The SIIP contains the Vision, Mission, Core Values; the Executive Summary, Community Profile, School Profile and State of the School Address; the Objectives Chart; the 3-year Priority Improvement Plan; the Annual Implementation Plan; the M&E Organizational Structure; M&E Matrix; Organizational Structure; Site Development Plan; SRC; and Terms and Reference of School M&E. |
Nicolas convene HRPTA prexy, advisers
Mabinay National High School principal, Mrs. Lucrecia C. Nicolas called all the HRPTA presidents and advisers for a meeting last July 9, 2014 at 9:00 o’clock in the morning at the parking area. The meeting started with a statement of purpose by the principal followed by the message of the very supportive outgoing president Mr. Antonio Faura. He said,” This is an organization that needs unity and cooperation. We need to give our efforts especially if you are an officer kay kita ang mopasabot sa mga guinikanan. Dili man kawang ang atong pagsuporta kay nakita man nato ang mga kalambuan diri sa atong tunghaan”. He further reminded the soon to be elected officers that there is a standing motion to continue the project that is LED TV until all sections are provided. Moreover, the PTA accomplishments were also enumerated as follows: conducted induction of officers; regular monthly meeting was done; conducted general assembly; prime movers during teachers’ day and high school day celebration; provided glass lectern; provided the 50,000.00 Php counterpart for world vision library; provided WIFI in the campus; purchased 10 units 32 inches LED TV with player; supported financially the Graduation Day, HS Day and Family Day, Recognition Day and Brigada; provided T-shirts for the PTA parent officials. All of these summed up to more or less Php 206,000.00. The principal, being grateful said, “Thank you that I have PTA officials who are very supportive”. The election of officers was done thereafter, and these are the new set of officers: President- Ptr. Jesseme Moreno, Vice Pres.- Resly Salas, Secretary-Mrs. Nelfa Ortega, Treasurer- Mrs. Catherine Sy, Auditor-Mr. Emilio Bohol, P.R.O. Mr. Elpedio Palumar and Mrs. Marife Cadilig, Sgt. @ Arms-Mr. Charles Banong and Mr. Edwin Jalisan.

Prov'l/ Division Federated PTA officials gab set in Mabinay
The Municipality of Mabinay hosted the Provincial/ Division Federated PTA officers' conference held at the Natural Spring Resort, Poblacion, Mabinay on June 25 - 26, 2014. Parent - officers, specifically the PTA Presidents from the 4 districts of Mabinay and from all over Negros Oriental gathered together for a leadership enhancement activities of the officers.
The participants visited Tadlong E/S and Samac E/S on their first day of school visit. A program was held on the following day to formally open the activity. Hundreds of participants were presented by Mrs. Ieny A. Socorro, MCS Principal II. Among those who gave their inspirational messages were Mrs. Leilanie L. Cabrera, assistant schools division superintendent, Hon. Ma. Rosario F. Ocay, Mabinay ABC President, and Hon. Rita M. Ricaplaza, SB Member.
Dr. Enrique Retes, education program supervisor and the Division Federated PTA Coordinator head the conference proper. Victor P. Gaitera, Prov'l Federated PTA President of Siaton East District, headed the open forum.

SSG officers, adviser join leadership camp
The MNHS SSG officers, with their adviser, attended the 2-day leadership camp in Valencia Nat'l High School, Valencia, Negros Oriental on June 28 - 29, 2014. Participants from the 97 High Schools all the Division of Negros Oriental pulled together for the YOLO (You Only Lead Once) training to produce quality and effective student - leaders. The camp started with an orientation and introduction of participants. They engaged in different headship activities and listened on the levels of leadership like Position (level of rights), Permission (level of relationship), Production (level of results), People Development (level of reproduction), and Personhood (level of respect). Several activities were also performed in the 2nd day including the election of the new set of province - wide SSG officials. Mr. Adolf P. Aguilar, EPS I of Negros Oriental man the said training. |
MNHS Enrolment ups by 2%
MNHS enrolment for the current school year has increased by 2.08% compared to last year’s 1728 total student population. For SY: 2014-2015 here are the enrolment figures including the SPED class (Hearing Impaired) as of July 7, 2014. |
Mabinay 1 embraces RPMS roll-out
Mabinay district 1 holds the Results-Based Performance Management System (RPMS) roll-out for all teaching and non-teaching personnel of both elementary and secondary schools of Mabinay 1 on June 29, 2014, 1:00 to 5:00pm at the Mabinay Spring Resort.
This half-day activity is purposely done to inform DepEd employees of the new performance rating process. Dr. Marilou N. Lobos, District 1 supervisor, made certain that everyone understood the importance of the organization wide process that will ensure employee’s focus work effort towards achieving DepEd’s vision, mission, and values.
RPMS focuses on the how and what-results must be achieved. The objectives of this management system are to align individual role and targets with DepEd’s direction, track accomplishment against objectives to determine appropriate corrective actions if needed, and provide feedback on employees work progress and accomplishments.

Nicolas: welcome back to school!
Mrs. Lucrecia C. Nicolas, MNHS Principal, once again welcome all teachers and students back to school for SY: 2014 – 2015 during the opening of classes on June 2, 2014. Sectioning and class orientation was done in the morning by the respective class advisers.
To start the year right, at 2pm, the first religious service was held in the amphitheatre sponsored by the UCCP with Rev. Ricky C. Anfone, CNAC Conference Minister as the celebrant.
Rev. Anfone talked on the topic “Giving To God Our Best”. He reiterated that since God gives us what is best for us, we ought to also give our best to Him always and in all ways. Moreover, he reminded the teaching staff saying, “giving your best means being faithful to your calling”. Then to the students he said,” “giving your best means having the determination to pursue your goals and aspirations in life”.
After the religious convocation, the MNHS Faculty and staff was introduced by the principal, and the SSG Officers by the SSG Adviser, Ms. Emy Tingson. Proper orientation of students was done to let them be aware of the school rules and regulations. Nicolas made sure that the students are welcomed and are inspired to continue their schooling this year. COP heads of the different grades and year level also gave their words of encouragement. The school guidance counselor and SSG prexy also gave their words of welcome.
MNHS family hoped that students enjoy their stay in school while learning for their bright future.

MNHS PTA thought of a major project for the S.Y. 2013-2014, that would really help the teaching – learning process in the classroom. Through a motion they finally decided to purchase 10 pcs LED flat screen 32” TV with player. The selection of sections to be given is based on the percentage of parents who paid the PTA membership and monthly dues and these are the following sections: IV-Rose, G7-Rosal, G8-Daisy, G9-Santan, IV -Waling-waling, IV-Marigold, G8-Dahlia, G7-Adelfa, G7-Poinsettia G9-Lavender.

G9 mentors attend k-12 mass training
The Grade 9 teachers of Mabinay National High School attended the k-12 mass training of teachers in all learning areas except TLE last May 16 - 21, 2014 at Silliman University, Dumaguete City.

The teacher participants were expected to be present every day in the training sessions during the training and complete a total of 54 hours of training to entitle them to a Certificate of Completion/Participation.
There were also 10 MNHS mentors who attended the Livelihood Skills Training of TLE (Technology and Livelihood Education) or TVE (Technical Vocational Education) teachers at Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) main campus in Dumaguete City in three different schedules. They are Mrs. Elizabeth Abrasado, Mr. Rey Anfone, Mrs. Juliet Aviles, Mr. Arnold Benitez, Ms. Geraldine Bulak, Mrs. Hana Cordova, Mr. Alexander Estrella, Mr. Reynante Matula, Mrs. Desan Mondia and Mr. Christopher Montemayor.
Those who specialized in Household Services, Contact Center Services, Beauty Care (Nail Care), and Handicraft (Needle Craft) had their training on April 28-May 2, 2014. The training for Care Giving, Technical Drafting, Dressmaking, Food (Fish) Processing, and Front Office Services specializations were on May 5-9, 2014. Trainees for Electricity, SMAW, Carpentry, and Electronics were trained at NORSU main on May 12-16, 2014 and Poultry and Crop Production at Pamplona campus on the same date.
The Grade 9 teachers of Mabinay National High School attended the k-12 mass training of teachers in all learning areas except TLE last May 16 - 21, 2014 at Silliman University, Dumaguete City.

MNHS girds for Brigada Eskwela ‘14
Mabinay National High School observed the national schools maintenance week, commonly known as Brigada Eskwela, on May 19-24, 2014 with the theme “ Making our Schools Safer”, in preparation for the opening of classes for SY 2014-2015. The BE kicked off with a parade followed by the registration of all volunteers in the morning of May 19. An opening program followed thereafter with the orientation on the mechanics of the BE Program by Mr. Rey C. Anfone, school physical facilities coordinator. BE is a school’s effort in bringing together the MNHS Federated PTA Officials, school faculty and staff, students, parents, community members, local government officials, Alumni, NGOs or community organizations like the YIFI, CYF, CWA and Bidlisiw, private sectors and other stakeholders who willingly shared and donated their labor services by involving in the week-long cleaning-up and beautification activities into an enjoyable and notable act. Volunteers do minimal classroom repairs, cleaning the classrooms, the yards and the school ground, clearing the pavement, landscaping, and weeding unwanted grasses from the different areas. All volunteers are acknowledged for coming, joining, and taking action just to make our school safer during the conduct of the Brigada Eskwela 2014. |

Eranes, Trubellas win bronze in Philippine National Games
Aaron C. Eranes and Archie Trubellas of MNHS obtain bronze medals in the Pencak Silat competition of the Philippine National Games (PNG) held on May 17-25, 2014 at Riverbank, Marikina City. Eranes and Trubellas, together with their teammates James El Mayagma (MNHS) and Aileen Ferolino (Mabinay Science High School), represented the Mabinay Pencak Silat team and the whole Province of Negros Oriental to the PNG 2014 and took part in the competition and exchanged blows with the equally powerful pesilat (Pencak Silat fighters) from the Philippine teams. Out of 18 competitors, Eranes and Trubellas fought their way to the semi-finals of Class C of the senior category hammering General Santos, Caloocan and one of the best teams in the Philippines Navotas. The crew, with their trainer and Regional head coach Mr. Reuben Elnar, were thankful of the financial support extended by LGU Mabinay through Hon. Mayor Jango T. Uy. Eranes was a provincial winner of the Junior category and one of the gold medalists during the Batang Pinoy Pencak Silat competition held last September 22-25, 2013 in Maasin City, Southern Leyte. Mabinay Pencak Silat Team now offers training to those are willing to join the organization. |
