Smokefree Mabinay marks 7th anniversaryThe municipality of Mabinay celebrated its 7th year of maintaining a smokefree community last October 6, 2017 with the theme “Sumad ika7 Likayan ang Panigarilyo mga Mabinayanon, Himsog ug Malamboon.” Participated by local and national offices, the celebration kicked off with a civic parade from Mabinay Spring to Mabinay Covered Court.
After the parade, a program started with an opening prayer led by the MNHS Students Choir. The singing of the Philippine National Anthem and Mabinay Hymn followed right after. To welcome everyone to the event, Hon. Ernie “Jango” Uy, the municipal mayor, recognized the contribution of everyone in sustaining the implementation of Smokefree Mabinay and emphasized the culture of participation, cooperation, and volunteerism among Mabinayanons. The celebration was made significant with the keynote message of Dr. Lope Ma. P. Carabaña Jr., Medical Center Chief of Eversley Childs Sanitarium, Mandaue City. In his message, he pointed out that health is a concerted effort between the people and the government agencies which aim to provide health for all. In its 7th year, he challenged Mabinayanons to maintain and sustain a smokefree environment. Mabinay 3 Scouts camp in Manlingay
Six hundred two campers from the elementary and secondary schools of Mabinay District 3 participated in the three-day joint BSP and GSP Encampment with the theme “Grow, Lead, and Take Action”, held at Manlingay High School last August 24-26, 2017.
The elementary campers came from Banban, Bugnay, Bulibulihan, Mabinay Central School, Mabinay 1 SPED Center, Manlingay, Namangka, New Namangka, Old Namangka and Tadlong while secondary scouts were from Mabinay National High School, Manlingay High School, and Mabinay Science High School. On the first night, the camp kicked off with a torch parade followed by Talentadong Scouts showcasing unique Boy Scouts talent. Early on the second day, the girl scouts carried out the Scout’s Own which was followed by a Zumba dance participated by everyone. . |
At 8:00 a.m., the raising of District and Troop flags took place. Right after the opening ceremony, the Bureau of Fire Protection and Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management facilitated the Calamity and Disaster Awareness. In the afternoon, the boy scouts performed recreational activities such egg frying using paper, egg q, bamboo rice cooking, water gathering, rice cooking using plastic, bamboo fire building, knot tying, karanag and sack race. On the other hand, the girl scouts joined skill o rama and GSP Modelling. In the evening, the BSP and GSP separately conducted the campfire ceremonies.
On the final day of the encampment, the scouts conquered the Challenge Valley, which was done in the morning. After lunch, the closing and awarding ceremony was held followed by the break camp.
